Nail Fungus Treatment
| May 12, 2010 |Shoes are also a great place for fungus to grow and spread. Try to keep the insides of your shoes and your feet as dry as possible. Try to wear socks that let air circulate and don’t cause your feet to sweat. Wear shoes that can let your feet breath whenever possible.
You know I’m a stickler for keeping your salon and work station sanitary so you knew I’d get to this sooner or later. A fungus infection can easily be spread by sharing manicure and pedicure tools that have not been properly sanitized. Unfortunately, we see these stories in the news way to often and it gives the nail technicians that follow sanitary procedures a bad rap. Always sanitize your tools with a hospital grade disinfectant (no, barbicide does not count) and clean your station between each client. That includes all your files. Use a different file on each client (give them their own kits) or use sanitizable files.
Once your client has an infected nail be super careful not to let it spread to other nails. Any tool or product that touches the infected nail should be thrown away or sanitized immediately. Wear gloves when treating a client with a fungus, for her protection as well as yours.
If your client has a nail fungus it must be treated immediately, do not mess around. Permanent damage can and will occur if you do not treat the client, or yourself as soon as possible. The last thing you want is an irate client who had lost her nail because you didn’t treat it properly and aggressively.
